Did a few trips to Curacao, but only once visited the Valley, And got thrown out, along with my mate the chippy, after we upset one of the resident police. I also understood that it had been opened to keep all us sea goers away from the more civilised population in Whillemstad. Also heard that the girls came from all over the world and did some sort of tour around a lot of the brothels in South America spending a bit of time in each. There certainly seemed to be a lot of nationalities there. All tastes catered for. Unless, of course, you were a tea and coffee drinker like Gully. Cheers, Albi.

lots of Happy Valleys
Just about every sailors regular run ashore had somewhere genericaly called Happy Valley. There was one in Curacao, one in Panama and many other locations. Another generic term was the snake pit. There were many dive bars around the Aussie and Kiwi coasts with the same name, you had to qualiify the name with a 'in Sydney' or 'in Auckland' etc.
