#70... As regards petrol prices as per previous post. I quiet often get the feeling that big brother is watching you. As of today on putting on the news was exactly what I said about the petrol prices and the oil companys and their outlets are now being accused of false prices. I have noticed this at various times where a site member has put up some complaint, and days after it appears in the media under another heading. Personally I think there are special government depts. use the stuff put on the internet to gauge the feeling of the people and also to poll their political attitudes. This is obvious especially in the present climate of terrorism where communications are by this media. Its a pity they didn't listen to some of the more obvious ones and get their act into gear and finger out and listen more to what the public want and demand from their elected politicians. Will see if any further movement on petrol prices which have been obviously a rip off for some time now. JS

Hi All.
Don't know whether all that wind in Paris had anything to do with it, but we just had climate change down here in Cooma, Awoke this morning to lovely sunshine,
this afternoon one of the worst storms we've seen since we came down here, sat in the club having a beer watching the staff running around like chooks with their heads cut off, putting buckets under the water pouring through the roof, I think the rain was bouncing of the road onto the roof, nice glass of beer but.

I think we all have to agree that man is affecting the worlds climate.
If you put a bunch of cold people into a room their body heat will eventually warm the room up to a higher temperature than initially and their body temp. will rise and eventually stabilise, Also if the room is fairly air tight the CO exhaled by all will eventually replace all the oxygen and they will die.
Taking the analogy further the earths atmosphere is trapped in layers thousands of feet above the earths surface so all the gases exhaled by man and his machines and all the animals are trapped in our atmosphere. Now there are plants etc. that thrive on absorbing this CO thus keeping the atmosphere in check. However the huge population growth world wide over the past centuries coupled with mans inventions such as the motor car and the burning of fossil fuel must surely have an effect on the earths atmosphere ability to maintain the balance between suns heat rays being to great causing over heating or blocking out those rays resulting in a too cold atmosphere.
How much man is contributing to disturbing that balance is really what is open to debate but as the worlds population is still increasing leading to ever more greater demands for food and energy surely it is incumbent on us all to take as much precautions as is reasonably possible to avert upsetting the fine balance between an atmosphere that can preserve the earths surface as we know it now against one where mans action has altered the atmosphere to such an extent that changes to sea levels, ice caps, etc. are such that the topography and climate of this world is altered to such an extent that these changes have a drastic impact on our future generations livelihood.

The cause of the warming of Co2 is caused by logging, The Rain forests are fast disappearing, in Indonesia, Africa, Brazil and many other [places, The trees thrive on Carbon and then throw out Oxygen, they are the Lungs of the world.
But the profits come before the climate. Make money now, it doesn't matter if the world dies tomorrow.
But they will not stop Logging.

Interestingly Brazil is planting new trees at such a rate that according to good sources they have replaced about two thirds of what wasa cut down.

John, as to petrol prices I think over in the West you pay more due to your position in the country. Here in Melbourne tonight it is about $1.14 in most with Diesel at around $1.17. Economists now say that the retailers have increased their margin by an average of 1.5 cents per litre.

I just filled up at Sainsburys at 99.9p a ltr. or one pound. the cheapest for a few years.
so that is equal to $2 Aus.

Biggest part of fuel costs in most countries is the tax. UK it is about 60% of the pump price. Here in Oz it is fixed at now I think about 39 cents per litre.
