Printer Inks

I ordered inks for my printer from Ebay, nothing wrong with that you say.
I received them this morning, on the side of the packet is a USE BY DATE, never seen this before, is it something new?
What happens if you use the inks after the date?

I get my inks from IJW, £34 FOR FOUR Epson CARTRIDGES.
I have search all over the carton and cartridges but cannot find a use by date. , on the paper it says Do Not Use after Use By Date, or six months.

The box clearly states use by 11-2016.
It also states once opened (assume ready for use in the printer) shelf life six months.

according to "CANON" when ink printers first came out they said sell them (ink cartridges) within 3 months as the ink congeals in the print head, i do not believe there were any dates on the packages then (1987 or there abouts).
it was recomended that when the printer had been standing for a while that a deep clean should be performed, this clears the head of any stuck up or dried ink, only problem with this is it uses a lot of the ink up.
the first ink jet printer to come out could take a 17inch paper, 4 colour printer that sold in canada for around $5000.00.it was a big machine made for commercial use.
it was very slow compared with todays speeds.
companies could give away printers and just make their money on the ink cartridges, that is where the profits are.

Hi Rod.
I used to get the Chinese [Epson ink cartridges?] for $2 at the local markets in Sydney, nothing wrong with them just that the printer used to say these are not the right ones and you will lose your right to any claim if anything goes wrong, the printer was ten years old, What claim!! Down here in the country I have to pay $15 a colour.

Hi Des a similar price here, $15A, in ASDA here they are £10 a cartridge.

I get a carton of Four EPSON for £34 from ITJ in Devon.
Inks must be around a thousand pounds a gallon, any one worked it out ?. They make more profit than the Oil Companies. What a Rip Off.

The reason why printers are so cheap is that the manufacturers make a fortune selling their own brand ink cartridges.
I get compatible cartridges from Cartridge World based in Guernsey, 3 day delivery {free}, 3 black and 2 colour cartridges plus a pack of good quality photo paper, for £18. Cartridges work fine and give excellent prints.
If you do not use your printer for a while you may find that the print head has clogged up. A quick spray of and liquid window cleaner followed by a wipe over with a paper towel should clear the problem. If that does not work, remove the print head {usually just clicked into place} put in a saucer of warm water and leave to soak overnight. Next day shake off any water and then blow through all the small ink channels to ensure they are clean. Leave the print head to dry out completely before replacing in your printer. Works every time for me.

Some companies now put dates on the boxes.
This in case you try and complain if they don't work.
some people don't use printer for months and the ink will dry up.
As stated above you show do a print every so often.
I do it every week and never had any trouble.
