Bit of a jam
Viewed a program tonight about Livepool and the history of the canals and who and when they were built. Included was an article about a factory, the Red Lead Ted Jam factory which came into being in the 1700's. At its' prime producing some 1.5 million jars a week. Any of you Liverpool lads know anything about it? Sounds to me like money for Jam!

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Bit of a jam
The only jam factory that I know of is Hartley's jam and I'm sure that was on that show.

Re: Bit of a jam
I got a jar from a craft shop in North Wales. None in ASDA, Sainsburys or Morrisons.
There is a Seven Pound Tin at the bottom of Sapele Creek in Nigeria. I was doing Flash for Dash with a Mamio and dropped the tin into her canoe, it went straight throw the bottom and sank the canoe. As she was swimming to the far bank she cursed me with the JU-JU Man.
A week later I fell off the mast and broke two legs and an arm.
So happy memories of Greengage.

Re: Bit of a jam
I remember very well the Greengage Jam in 5lbs tins, none of the crew would eat it but I sold an awful lot of it for rum in Venezuala and Colombia.

Re: Bit of a jam
I must have a very different taste to many then as I always liked the Greengage Jam also the Gooseberry Jam.
My favourite though is still Tomato Jam! Make it myself now,as its hard to get here and when I can its too darned costly!
Cheers
There is another thread on this Jam as well by Capt Kong!
