Re: Clydesdale horses
Draught (draft) horses were used in our district in Oz and our next door neighbour, Percy Hansen was our local ploughman. Clydesdales and Shires were the most kept. As kids we used to walk behind in the furrow and behind us the magpies would pick up the grubs. Great temperaments these hairy hoofed giants had. Here is a photo of Perc's Clydesdale on the old Box Brownie. Looks a bit skinny on it but those were hard times and probably a dry spell and not much fodder about. The dray is sitting on it's tail in the usual parking style in the background.
