Re: All Together Now (If Only)
A memorial to the Christmas Truce where games of football were played between the German and British Troops in WW1 was unveiled at the National Arboretum by Prince William?
It was designed by a young boy from the North East and consists of a sculpture of a handshake between two persons encased in a football shaped structure. Along with the Royal Prince the young boy got to meet Sir Bobby Charlton and as the boy said when interviewed "it was a day he will never forget"

Re: All Together Now (If Only)
Thanks, Jim
Wasn't there some talk of St. Luke's being demolished ? Hope not.
I listened to Prince William's speech and apparently there are a number of football matches and events this coming week to commemorate the Christmas Truce. That's a good thing

Re: All Together Now (If Only)
Brenda at one time it was overgrown inside with trees and in a state of neglect now it's been tidied up and used for different art type things. When I was at my sons in Croatia there was an article in their paper where a Croation artist had displayed at the church,I couldn't read the story but it was a lifeboat on display. The council with the cutbacks were saying that they did not have the money to look after it and were thinking of putting it out the private sector but now I think that they have decided to keep it and there is talk of getting the clock back into working order.
Regards.
