Re: Under the influence
2 glasses of red wine ? bottles ? When in Rome ask for what the Pope drinks, usually: Creme de Menthe, then try a pint or two. K.

Re: Under the influence
Reminds me of Billy Connolly's sketch of the two Scots in Rome. "Two pints o' heavy," and finishing up with two pints of Creme de Menthe. Then there's the one when the circus came to town "An elephant has sh*t in Sauchiehall Street. Motorists are advised to treat it as a roundabout."

Re: Under the influence
Spanish singer Julio Iglesias was on UK television with British TV host Anne Diamond.
He used the word "manyana" (pronounced "man -yana").
Anne Diamond asked him to explain what it meant.
He said that the term means:
"Maybe the job will be done tomorrow;
Maybe the next day;
Maybe the day after that;
Or perhaps next week;
Next month;
Next year.
Who really cares?"
The host turned to Albert Yatapingu from the Gumbaingeri Tribe (aboriginal) who was also on the show.
She asked him if there was an equivalent term in his native language.
"Eh" he replied, "In Australia we don't have a word to describe that degree of urgency." JS

Re: Under the influence
I hash not ben under the afluence of inkohol for yraes, hic.
As what I consider to be a professional drinker I am never under the influence of alcohol! I may consume to the extent where I find it difficult to negotiate the front room, or maybe find the bathroom, but thta is only because the ball and chain has moved the furniture during the evening, or closed the bathroom door.
No, professional drinkers know when to stop, usualy about the time they pass out!
But there is a possibility I could be an alcoholic as according to my GP any one who drinks more than their doctor is one. My GP does not drink, bloody woos.

#4, Rob, Presume standard size, slightly worrying. He'd completed a nine hour drive earlier
perhaps just tired!
#9, John, I would have thought keeping it down may have been a problem also
