Re: Where ships go to die
Hi Keith ,
Please stop posting in Riddles, cannot make much sense of anything. Say what needs to said then we can understand what it is you want to post about. You do get me confused at times.
Are you like that in a verbal conversation?
Cheers
Brian.

Re: Where ships go to die
I don't see what the fuss is about there has been explosive fracking since teh oil industry began and hydraulic fracking sinec the 1950s . There are a few loony people in the US started an anti fracking movement , despite the economical sense , and the unproven environmantal impact suggestions are whisked out of fresh air in the main .
When I have heard adverse comments , we have a well here at Horndean 3 miles away been going for years , most people have not a clue what it is about , and protest because they like protesting , Unfortunatly ignorance like many lightweight things floats to the top

So as you don't see what the fuss is about, we all have to agree, don't think so. K

Hi Keith, I was referring to most of your posts. What you do with your spare money is only your affair.
Sometimes just three words, sometimes just three letters, eg, `omg`.

Re: Where ships go to die
So Keith what is wrong with Fracking , enlighten me
The anti fracking lobbiests and protesters tell us
1) shale gas production has polluted aquifers in the United States.
The total number of aquifers that have been found to be polluted by either fracking fluid or methane gas as a result of fracking in the United States is zero. Case after case has been alleged and found to be untrue. The Environmental Protection Agency closed its investigation at Dimock, in Pennsylvania, concluding there was no evidence of contamination; abandoned its claim that drilling in Parker County, Texas, had caused methane gas to come out of people’s taps; and withdrew its allegations of water contamination at Pavilion in Wyoming for lack of evidence. Two recent peer-reviewed studies concluded that groundwater contamination from fracking is “ not physically plausible.”
2 ) , that it releases more methane than other forms of gas production.
A team from Massachusetts Institute of Technology put it: “It is incorrect to suggest that shale gas-related hydraulic fracturing has substantially altered the overall intensity of natural gas production.”
3), that it uses a worryingly large amount of water.
The Guardian carried a report implying that a town in Texas is running dry because of the water used for fracking. Yet in Texas 1% of water use is for fracking, in the United States as a whole 0.3% -- less than is used by golf courses. If parts of Texas run out of water, blame farming, by far the biggest user.
4 ), that it uses hundreds of toxic chemicals.
The BBC in a background briefing described fracking as releasing “hundreds of chemicals” into the rock. Out by an order of magnitude, Auntie. Fracking fluid is 99.51% water and sand. In the remaining 0.49% there are just 13 chemicals, all of which can be found in your kitchen, garage or bathroom: citric acid (lemon juice), hydrochloric acid (swimming pools), glutaraldehyde (disinfectant), guar (ice cream), dimethylformamide (plastics), isopropanol (deodorant), borate (hand soap); ammonium persulphate (hair dye); potassium chloride (intravenous drips), sodium carbonate (detergent), ethylene glycol (de-icer), ammonium bisulphite (cosmetics), petroleum distillate (cosmetics).
5) that it causes damaging earthquakes.
A leading study of earthquakes over many decades concluded that “almost all of the resultant seismic activity [from fracking] was on such a small scale that only geoscientists would be able to detect it” and that mining, geothermal activity or reservoir water storage causes more and bigger tremors.

Very insulting that Keith to a man of Robs experience and qualifications, you really do owe him an apology. Some on here have lead very variable lives, just not restricted to the Merchant Service, if you bothered to read his factual posts instead of trying to score points on each and every post, no matter the subject, you would have noticed his informative posts.
