Re: Aid money
I think the main point is we give money to lands that would not grow anything at all so the people will have to move its not up to us to feed them? what if they were living in the middle of the sahara desert dos that count no if they have nuclear weapons and can fly stuff to mars they don't need help from us you think?jp

Re: Aid money
Ron, they don't believe me either and I was involved with Aid Programmes one way or another for over a decade from small cog, to organiser, to equipment and technical personnel supplier and port transport and discharge managers. Worked with UK and European cargoes/aid as well as USA Aid under their PL480 Programmes, have seen the ways, means and misdemeanors first hand, but you do what you can, it's difficult arguing with men holding guns, when they are untrained, unpredictable and in a lot of cases should be at school. In a lot of places you cannot just up and leave if you are not happy, you need that all important 'exit visa' and they aint letting you go whilst you can still be milked!

Re: Aid money
Aid & the dispersing there of will be a ongoing argument. Yes of course no one not involved knows what actually happens but they are aware of the immense corruption involved (funds particularly) as well as parties taking control of the food etc aid sent then on selling it or whatever. Am sure that is not always the case but possibly more often than not. Has there ever been an accountability for the great 'live aid' funds or in kind raised for Ethiopia?
Aha exit visas, anyone working in those sort of countries has experienced that, it is scary & not just the aid people have that sword hanging over their head either. How many times have we been walking to the aircraft calling on he above to please let me get on the plane, take off & get the F... out of their air space? Twice I have been air born & been recalled to see some poor person being hauled off, one was a expat man too. Numerous times whilst awaiting doors closing & taxing, certainly no good for the blood pressure.
