Today marked the Bicentenary of the first crossing of the Blue Mountains of Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson in 1813, are hosting a range of items to celebrate this achievement.




This was a a very nice way and of course entertaining,there were 75 Aircraft and Flew over our House towards the Mountains proper and on to Bathurst!

I was in fact diving towards Bathurst at the time!

Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy this spectacular event with more than 60 aircraft including the famous RAAF Roulettes from recommended viewing locations (see "Community Events" page for activities at each location): 1. LAWSON PUBLIC SCHOOL - Lawson, 10.30am - 1.30pm, 5. BLUE MOUNTAINS GRAMMAR SCHOOL - Wentworth Falls, 10am - 2pm, 6. THE CARRINGTON HOTEL - Katoomba, paid event brunch $60pp, 10.30am - 1.30pm, 7. MELROSE PARK - North Katoomba, 7am - 1pm, 8. THE GARDENS - Blackheath, 11am - 2pm, 9. MOUNT VICTORIA MEMORIAL PARK - Mount Victoria, 11am - 2pm, 10. HARTLEY HISTORIC SCHOOL - Hartley, 10am - 3pm, 11. O'CONNELL AVENUE CAFE & STORE - O’Connell, 11am - 2pm.

Its 11.00pm here in the Blue Mountains and here are photos of Katoomba Street, Katoomba today and one of the Flypast and an enlargement from our front verandah at noon. There were quite a few more but by the time I had tripped over Cleo the dog, crashed through the flyscreen door the roar was out of sight over the back of the house. 1813! - The Auld Smiddy house we lived in in Kinclaven by Stanley, Perthshire in the 1970s was already built 25 years before that.
