Never met the nice Arab man but did meet quite a few retailers in Singapore selling the genuine fake versions

But best of all was the look on the young first trippers face as he was chased through change alley "you want to buy personal massager " still bring a smile to my face all these years later (about 10 inch long and near as fat as a beer can )

I WILL SELL YOU ONE IF YOU MAKE A TRIP TO BARRY:

Hoprful local press release for Thursday:

Remembering the many lost from the Vale of Glamorgan and all that sailed from Barry Dock.

    We must remember all
    :
Let those who come after see to it that his name be not forgotten".

During this Year of the Convoy we attempt to reflect on and remember our lost and loved ones and the many fallen of the Merchant Naval Service, the bravery of those that undertook to keep the supply lines open and helped to save our Nation. Without such provisions imported the population would have starved and the Country lost. We tribute further the many from the Vale of Glamorgan and all that sailed from Barry Dock.
During the Year of the Convoy Arctic Star medals have been presented to veterans at 10 Downing street and remembrance and tribute has taken place for the Arctic Convoy’s with further Arctic Stars received at Loch Ewe, where veterans attended in respect and remembrance and further vowed to continue to seek the Ushakov - Gallantry award for the bravery of survivors and those lost.
The related Armed Forces and Merchant Navy 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic as part of the Year of the Convoy has also commenced with events in both London and Londonderry. There has been and will be much more going on around the country with Pembroke Dock, Weymouth and Plymouth amongst others taking part.
More locally: the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Service at the Merchant Seafarers Memorial, Cardiff Bay: Takes place on Saturday May 18 at 11:00 (A Battle of the Atlantic Remembrance).
The Glamorgan War Time Heritage Centre at Barry Island will be open on Wednesday May 22nd for those that may wish to both visit and possibly record memories with the centre’s recording equipment. A red ensign and other MN artifacts and display material ensure a perfect place to reflect.
Barry, the principal town of Glamorgan is to pay its respect to those of all convoy’s and will ensure the red ensign of the Merchant Navy is flown on Thursday May 23 at the Memorial Hall and the associated forces and National flags including the red duster will be flown at the Vale Council Offices during day time the same day.
Members of the Merchant Navy Association (Wales) Barry Branch will lay a wreath at the MN Monument at 11.00 again on Thursday May 23rd.
The combined forces events culminate in Liverpool over the weekend with more National Commemorations Friday May 25 - Sunday May 26th. The local Heritage Centre at Barry Island Railway station will again be open to visitors on Sunday 26, a perfect opportunity to bring along and record MN memorabilia. The museum will continue to open for further events during the year of the convoy 2013.

Not certain if I can make Tiger Bay, but will let you know about Barry:

    k.

There was a guy here a few years ago selling portairts of the Queen for $50 each. Sold about a hundred before someone took him to court for decpetion. The judge found him not guilty as there was no specific specifications as to the portrait in the advert.
The portraits, oh they were British Postage stamps.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Life is too short to blend in.
