I'll certainly vouch for that John, Just had to pay out £150 for a new bike and helmet for my daughter and she's still expecting Santa to bring her half of the Argos catalogue on Xmas day
I did suggest to my wife that I actually cut the catalogue in half and put it in her stocking but she reminded me that my daughter now knows where to kick so that it hurts

Tony,
I have posted this before, But i am sure a lot of the guys will relate, Can always remember hanging an old stocking of my mothers over our bed post ? And getting it filled with fruit @ nuts a box of paints and a colouring book, OH and if you were lucky you got a few chocolate coins, Xmas in the 50s and 60s are my fondest childhood memories go back to. Traditional Xmas dinner were you all sat around the dining table {No food allowed in the sitting room} A silver sixpence hidden in the Xmas pud that my old gran would bake, Paper chains that you would sit for weeks and make with your mother, Chestnuts that my old man would bring in Xmas eve and bake on an open fire on the shovel {Salt at the ready of course} I always remember my old man telling me a tale which i have no doubt in believing, When he was a kid he and 2 of his brothers walked for 5 miles to see a turkey hanging in a butchers shop window in the 40s after the war. We all love Our grandkids and would give them anything , But i sometimes wonder wether they get to much to soon. I am not a killjoy bye any means but Xmas is to commercial these days and i think people and children should not forget the true meaning of Xmas i am roman catholic and don't practice my faith as much as i should? Its only Xmas time that brings it home to me. My Mother was in church every week of her life. And maybe through devine intervention won the respect and admiration from her 7 children R.I.P. Mam Terry.
