london city airport
In the late 60, early 70,s Maplin Airport was envisaged off Foulness Island in the Thames Estuary, an artificial island was constructed as a test, i believe its still there, its away from the Richard Montgomery, so no problem with that, i do not know why that is not still considered,

The Maplin Airport project received Royal Assent in Oct 1973. It was not only going to be an airport but also have a deep water harbour designed for container ships. However the labour party stopped it in July 1974 in favour of enlarging Stanstead and developing Felixstowe to handle the container ships. Labour had always been against the £825million project.

at present my wife is trying to book a flight from malaga to london and as british airways advertise heavily on local radio she checked what was available.there are about 10 airlines to fly from malaga to city airport.none direct and I think the shortest journey is 5hrs and the longest is 16hrs.so she wont be using that airport

london city airport
A friend of mine tried to fly to Zurich direct from there, had to fly to another Swiss city first, change planes then to Zurich. have some strange routing systems, Heathrow, Gatwick or Stanstead have direct flights to most destinations, like you it must deter lots of passengers.

I see that Brussels has stopped Manchester Airport from using the XRAY FULL BODY SCANNERS. It is the only Airport to use them. I have been through several times and no problem, for Security it is the Best method.
The ******s objected to them and the Human Rights of europe has banned it.
They forget it is because of them we have to have Security.
Cheers
Brian.

We will be getting them here in Oz soon and so far no objections from the Moslems, only the civil liberties group and no one takes notice of them.

Labour were opposede because it was a Conservative idea.
My brother in Law uses the city airport regularly to fly to Ireland, does very well on that route but I think the airport is only capable of such short flights.
