The most popular name in Britain today for boys is Mohammed,
.
. HD John, there was an Instructor at the Vindi, he was called, Strange,
he always said when he died he would have a Blank tomb stone, with Nothing at all on it. and people would say
"Thats Strange".
I found his grave in the Church yard in Berkeley and it had all the usual details on it Loving husband of .... ETC.
So he never got his wish.

do remember him Brian, my first day and he told me that just because we had the same name did not mean I would get any special tretament. Lying bludger he made life bloody hell for me anad afew others.

never had any probs with the so called officers at the vindi just kept me head down only prob not enough to eat and a bit cold washing your body in the outside bogs in cold water in December but I think living in shields the temp wasnt to bad ..went to a vindi meeting one year and saw a bloke with a tea shirt which said ....I survived the vindi ....he should have been on the colliers in winter tht was a bit meaner by a long chalk than the vindi regards cappy
