Blue Jeans ??
I have read in the papers and magazines that men over the age of 40 should not wear blue jeans. What a load of rubbish. I can remember, before the so called fashion experts were born that dungarees, as we called them then, were almost a uniform with merchant seamen. Together with a white ' t 'shirt it was the most popular go ashore rig. I can remember coming home on leave one time in the 50's and going into my local pub in this rig. They all looked at me like a new drink. In those days, as a lot of you remember, you couldn't buy them in the UK, so most of us bought them in the US. I bought my first pair in Galveston for $3.95. I am 78 now and still wearing blue denim. So b-----ks to the fashion gurus, what do they know?
Cheers

For Pete
Well Said Pete,
Who are these PRATS anyway who try to tell us what’s what any way, I don’t wear “Jeans” now because I am not the right shape for them and I like to tuck my shirt in and not wear them round my AR*E showing my pants like American Lifers.
Wear what you like, Fart when you like and enjoy your self.
Best Regards

when I look back and remember the boot jeans we used too buy in the us , they were wider at the bottom so they would easily go over high boots worn by cowboys or westerners , we used too go too town sometimes with a suit jacket and jeans , I beleive that started the flared pants style that caught on in the late 50,s hence bell bottoms

I remember walking up from the pool one day wearing jeans that were scubbed white down the front above the knee's and white at the a--e. I couldn't help but notice people glaring at them. It was only then that I realised, at the time, everyone else's were still of the dark blue variety. They were Lee's and, at that time, you couldn't get Lee's in the U.K. I think we all might have started a trend and didn't know it at the time.

Jeans now come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Here in Oz no one care what you wear or when. thongs at a wedding is not uncommon and I own a pair of denim shorts thtat get more than their fair share of work for about 9 months of the year.

Happy daze John in Oz.

i guess we all remember the jeans. i think that was where the expression "cowboys" came from.i was told that jeans and check shirts were all that was worn by stewards during the war. i had jeans that were scrubbed white and skin tight from sitting in the bath, or towed over the side on a rope, but my favourite ones were very black and had triple green stitching. these were accepted in most places, even in restaurants. alf
