I was on a ship called the Empire Marshal in 1952. We were on a contract to the US military, transporting tanks, trucks etc.between Japan and Korea. Our drop off point was Pusan and as the country was at war at that time the place was a bit of a mess. So our destination when ashore was the NAAFI in the Commonwealth camp. We were not really entitled to drink there unless escorted by a member of the armed forces, but they got to know our faces and as long as we behaved we were made welcome. One day HMS Belfast came in and let the port watch ashore. I think they were transported up there to make sure they didn't go adrift. Anyway although the NAAFI was a big place it was packed this night and as we went in there was a lot of hooting and hollering going on. It soon became apparent what all the noise was about, a Royal Marine was standing on a table in the middle going through the ditty "This old coat of mine" which as most of you know is a striptease. In the camp complex there was a WVS contingent, and one of these ladies, a very matronly person had come across to see what all the fuss was about. The marine was carrying out the last bit of his performance, which is discarding his underpants , just as this lady walked in. I don't think I shall ever forget the look on her face as long as I live. She couldn't get out of there quick enough
