Re: The Police State ?
What does "Citizen" really mean?
It seems to me that my living and owning a home in Anaheim, California makes me a 'citizen' of Anaheim, and probably of California, but not of the USA.

Re: The Police State ?
Well I consider myself to be a citizen of the world.
It all depends on which country you live in.
Most democracies would consider you to be a citizen, but in others just a number.

Re: The Police State ?
#116 you post, A brave man ref:to walking the streets of London , 131 murders in 2020 a slight increase in 2021 to 133. Not great but considering 8.8 million people live in London!!!
Palm Beach County recorded its second-highest number of homicide deaths in the past decade during 2021, totaling 109 for the year, Palm Beach County Medical Examiner and law-enforcement records show.
West Palm Beach had 22 homicides, the most of any municipality.
Considering that the population of Palm beach county is 1.5 million!!
Think I would feel safer walking about in any UK city than Palm beach County.
There were a total of 1,290 murders in Florida in 2020, or 5.9 for every 100,000 people.
My point is the UK media would like people to believe we are all about to be murdered in our beds. When the truth is the UK is still a relatively a safe place to live.

Re: The Police State ?
Someone from the UK sent me a photograph of their new dog the other day. It’s mainly black and brown with a small white area, so they’ve called it Birmingham. JS

Re: Passports
Then we have the use of the word 'indigenous' when speaking of our Aboriginal friends, but the word means any one born in or native to a country.
So all born here in Oz fit that description.
AS to murder rates, not that bad for UK considering the numbers and where 'some' of the population come from.
Back in 2019 we were on a bridge in London when some guy pulled a knife and killed the other one.
Papers claimed that year some 90 people were murdered and some 95% with a knife.

Re: Passports
It's all about culture, embrace it, it's ours now. I see Idris Elba is against jailing "anyone" found with a knife, because some only carry them for protection.

He's a British actor, and usually talks a lot of sense.
What I do, and have always done if I'm afraid I might get mugged, stabbed, or generally attacked in any way, is avoid those areas and people altogether.

Re: Passports
Even 50 years ago in the uk it was Illegal to carry a blade in public more than 6 inches long. I think even Boy Scouts sheath knives never exceeded such. I a few years ago when active in certain Orders had to carry swords for indoor ritual purposes but had to be in a case. You would certainly have been stopped by any police officer and asked for an explanation and that was in Australia. JS .
