Until ALL scientists and scientific bodies begin to sing from the same song sheet doubt will remain.
All these events attributed to global warming have occurred from time to time in the past, only they were not scrutinised as closely or publicised so widely.

I agree with the above, the information that is available to us now, compared with 30 years ago, via the internet we can scrutinise everything, with an enquiring mind, that's when we learn things like MPs expenses etc, things hidden from us for years before. We do have to accept that not ALL that we read and hear is always true of course, but so much now can not be hidden. The case of the footballer who got a court order preventing the media from naming him, simple, it was on the internet, kt

Well lads I may be the minority on this thread but I firmly believe that within the next few years some of the smaller low level islands around the world will disappear due to melting ice caps and global warming, In fact I am awaiting for Noah's Arc to tie up down our street. Terry

Many islands in the Pacific sink beneath the ocean as they are volcanic and the weight of the islands on the sea bed take them down again.
Tuamotu is a good example, In the Society Islands , South Pacific, It was an island 70 miles in length, a Huge Volcano, a few thousand feet in height, It has now sunk beneath the sea, just leaving a Lagoon 70 miles across with a few tiny Motus , islands, showing above the surface,
I go there every two years, and will be there again next March and April.
For the sea to rise One Metre, you would need 37,000,000,000,000 Cubic metres of water.
    So No Worries.

There has been much talk about rising sea levels across the globe.
From what I remember of science classes at school just a few years ago we were taught that water will always find it's own level.
I sit possible to have water levels at different points across the globe?

We go down to the coastal regions on average 30 times a year and have been doing so for the last 40 years.
The high tide level is no different now to that of 1980.

If I go to Port Melbourne I can still stand on the quay side where we docked in 1964, the timber wharf is still there and the water level still the same.

A theory was put forward some years ago by an English climatologist who claimed that much of the rising sea levels on some South sea islands is not rising sea levels.
His claim is that the locals have exhausted the under ground fresh water tables and the islands ae sinking!!

In Russia after the young lady spoke at the UN about the Climate Putin made a statement.

" I am sure she is a very nice young lady with the best of intentions, however she obviously does not understand adult matters."
Russia is, according to the UN, the worlds 4th largest emitter of carbon.
They are also a major exporter of gas and oil.

The younger generation, students at uni in particular, have in my experience of working in one always been at the front of any march no matter the subject.
But as one economist put it,

'Here we have the young marching and complaining the gov is not doin enough about the climate. But when they start work and begin to pay tax they will begin to think differently.'

can someone explain to me how the ice age ended here in the UK it was a tropical environment millions of years ago or is it just a natural thing the planet take after so many years?? jp

    Right John
10,000 years ago Bolton was under 200 feet of Ice, Where did it go ???
there were tropical rain forests that is why Lancashire is full of coal and gas.

Alaska: Salmon are dying off due to the heatwave, a possible offshoot of climate change,
Many varieties of salmon thrive in Alaska and the heatwave this summer has taken a heavy toll with large die-offs noticed. Alaska: Locals first noticed the die-off of Salmon and scientists descended on the field to study the issue. The Yukon Inter-Tribal Fish Commission got involved. Its director, Stephanie Quinn-Davidson, accompanied by a team of scientists, took a trip along the Koyukuk River in Alaska at the end of July to gather first-hand information. They counted 850 dead unspawned salmon and felt the actual figure could be much higher. In order to ascertain the cause of death, they cut open the fish and found the eggs intact. They looked for signs of lesions, parasites, and infections. Those were absent and they concluded that the heatwave was responsible for the situation.
CNN reports that Stephanie Quinn-Davidson admitted the salmon die-off on such a large scale was difficult to explain. She had "never heard of anything to this extent before." Scientists have been keeping track of the stream temperatures around the Cook Inlet since 2002. It is located south of Anchorage and it has never registered a temperature above 76 degrees Fahrenheit. However, on July 7, the west side of the Cook Inlet registered 81.7 degrees. Obviously, it was a matter of concern for the wellbeing of the salmon.
She and her team published a study in 2016. It pertained to the probable temperatures in the streams of Alaska due to Climate change. However, as things stand today, their projections have gone haywire. In her own words, "2019 exceeded the value we expected for the worst-case scenario in 2069." She also pointed out the ill effects of overfishing that puts the population of fish under stress. This goes to show that climate change can devastate lives through forest fires and typhoons on land and on salmon in the water. CNN goes on to add that another factor is the presence of Orcas. They are also endangered and feed on salmon. Incidentally, the Environmental Protection Agency took a negative approach and agreed to a mining project in Alaska.
Death of salmons in Alaska attributed to heat stress
According to Juneau Empire, this summer Alaska faced unusually high temperatures. That resulted in die-offs of unspawned salmon. The warm waters create a sort of “thermal block.” It transforms into a wall of heat that the fish do not swim past, delaying upriver migration. Stephanie Quinn Davidson attributes these to heat stress. Locals say a similar situation was there four or five years back but the numbers are considerably more this year. Stephanie said the dead fish looked healthy and there were no signs of any disease, infections, or parasites. However, she points out that the die-offs coincided with the week of high temperatures. Something not quite right lads Terry.

President Trump is systematically reversing all the policies enacted by President Obama and including laws that were introduced back when he was a Democrat and supported at that time. All this is to keep a grip on his base, regardless on the effect of climate change, working place safety, medical coverage etc..

    Terry,
maybe the warm Waters around Alaska is coming from Hawaii.
The Big Island of Hawaii has big Volcanoes, the Big One , Kilauea is pouring None Stop super heated red hot lava into the ocean continually and has done for years, The Sea is Boiling heating up the ocean thi drifts north towards Alaska, and around the Pacific just like the Atlantic`s Gulf Stream,
It is also pumping out into the atmosphere huge clouds O sulphuric acid which also drift northwards towards Alaska in the prevailing winds,
It kills birds and in the hot ocean it kills fish. So I can understand the results of the actions of Kilauea on Alaska.
The biggest lake on the island of Hawaii has disappeared, why??? not global warming, Lava from Kilauea poured into the lake and the whole lot evaporated into a huge cloud of steam , not a drop of water left, it just filled up with lava,
Volcanoes world wide are doing similar tricks. Under sea Volcanoes are also heating up the oceans, and sending huge balls of methane gas up and into the atmosphere. A lot of that occurs along the West Indies and off Iceland.
That is why they make me pay £273 road tax on my little car. every year, so when they have enough they will stuff the pound notes into the Volcano and block it.
You have to see it in action to believe it. the Pacific Ocean boiling, I have seen it many times and will see it again next March. I go every two years.
I have been monitoring the climate world wide in person for many many years, and not from some one with an Ology in a class room.
In the South Pacific, El Nino happens every ten years or so, A stream of hot water crosses the Pacific from South America to Australia and it does kill millions of fish and sea birds including Pelicans etc, This was happening hundreds of years ago and has been recorded many times from old Sea Captains of sailing ships.
There is a little global warming but the earth is doing it, not my little car that only does less than 2000 a year.
Go and see it for yourself, , it is an awesome sight, doesn't cost that much.
    Cheers
    Brian
