Re: Hugh , Pugh, Barney MacGrew, Hibble, Dibble , Dob.
I seem to remember that Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb were the Firemen in Trumpton and their boss was Captain Flack - there was also Chippy Minton the Carpenter - not that I watched it much
I did actually, my daughters loved Trumpton and Camberwick Green, which was just down the road from Trumpton and they had Pippin Fort with the soldiers and their boss Captain Snort - loved it, fantastic.

John you can criticise my childhood Heroes to your hearts content all I have to say is one episode of The Magic Roundabout and the world just has to be a magical strange place conjured up surrounded by a cloud of strangely scented smoke

#24 .. Hope that smoke didn’t come from an opium pipe Rob. Funnily enough having sailed with Chinese know the smell, especially after Sunday morning inspection. The incense couldn’t disguise. Even the customs in Liverpool turned a Nelson eye on it in some cases for the older orientals who had used it since childhood. Don’t think they acquired it on the magic roundabout, but who knows?. Best advert. though was captain Birdseye though a real proper sailor ,beard an all, spoke like a sailor and said my hearties. Or was it smarties. JS
