John, re. post #1
It's hard to believe... Yet my wife informs me that in our public schools, which are funded by tax dollars, there are no more Christmas shows depicting the birth of Jesus etc.. The same goes for carols such as "Oh holy night," but "Jingle Balls" is okay. However, private schools, churches, non-government sponsored shows, etc. may do so. It's part of Amendment 1 of our constitution "The separation of church and state." Now, if the p.c. brigade tried to stop US saying "Merry Christmas, that is where the Second Amendment comes in..."The right to bear arms." We'd shoot the sumbitches!
I used to sing in the school choir. Before age thirteen I had a very good high pitched voice, the music teacher needed me to sing the descant part. It was a license to be a right sod and get away with damn near murder. It would go something like this:
I would act up in Teacher Smith's class who would give me two hundred lines to be completed after school.
The music teacher, Mr. Price, would remind me that we had choir practice after class. I would tell him "Sorry sir, I can't make it, Mr. Smith told me to stay after class." "I'll talk to Mr. Smith," say's himself, "choir practice comes first."
I had a good run for the money, until my very last day of school. It was the afternoon recess, I was smoking in the toilet and the whistle blew. All the boys stood still. I strolled out of the "John" fag in the mouth, real cool, and walked across the silent playground. Mr. Price (a one time Welsh rugby player) was the teacher on playground duty. He grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and the seat of my pants and marched me to the headmasters room. I had the dubious honor of getting six of the best, five minutes before I left school.
Do you remember the carols? Jingle Balls, While shepherds washed the socks by night. and Fart the herald angels sing. I used to have a laugh singing them, until one practice the entire choir had the same idea, and "Fart the herald angels sing" came out loud and clear.
Cheers, and a merry Christmas and God Bless! Rodney

Re: thought for the day
To be fair I do not think it is the Islamic Faith that is making up all of this rubbish about the holiday season and holiday this that and the other. I remember last year some town council in England decided basically to ban Christmas decorations in case it offended non Christians. There was quite an uproar about it all and in the end one of the leaders of the local mosque had to intervene and clarify the situation by saying that in no way did they find the celebration of Christmas offensive and in fact rather enjoyed the celebrations in particular the Christmas lights etc. It is in my opinion the PC brigade at work again. I personally take no notice of them. I did get pulled up once for some remark I made but when I told the arsehole where to go he changed his tune.

John

Re: thought for the day
When the last gov got in here in Victoria in 2010 the first thing the premier did was to say that there was to be no bans on any form of Christmas celebrations in schools, work places or any public space. We are after all basicaly a Christian country.
Talking to day with a Sikh working in the local produce store, not long here from India. Asked him if he liked Christmas, told me this would be his firdt and he was greatly looking forward to it.l

Happy daze John in Oz.
