Pay off day in Liverpool and then into Tom Halls,

.6am on the focsle head, sun just coming up on the equater, Mate shouts OK finish Look out, the air fresh and cool before the heat of the day, smoko, 7 am wash down, eggs and bacon, on a good feeder, then all day bronzy.
    better than a millionaires cruise.
Happy days, not a care in the world, shore people never enjoy moments like that.

I think john is saying that that the foreign ladies of ill repute might have had a more serious present to give us than the usual doses of those days, had it been these days with Aides being very common.

Unless he is mistaking Tom Halls with Doctor Ross`.
Tom Halls was the ale house just behind the Cunard Building almost under the Overhead Railway, demolished in 1956 when the Overhead was demolished. We always went in there on pay day.

I used to enjoy the weekends prior to the 44hr week, when apart from your trick at the wheel, dhobi, and bronzy on the hatch. After the work hours were reduced(year???), weekends at sea were the same as any other day KT
