I took a transit bearing of it, later when the Moon was aligned with the midship window frame I took another transit bearing, seeing that I had plenty of time I calculated, using the Marc St Heleir method and my book of Nories Tables and then discovered the true position of my house. It is in a position, Bolton Town Hall bearing 357 degrees by 1.27 miles,
I now know exactly where I live, when navigating my way home from the Club, and by allowing leeway and set I can now arrive home without drifting down the next avenue and turning to starboard into a berth in the young Divorcee`s house.
The Long Haired One is now wondering why I am now arriving home from the Club two hours earlier.
That Glenfiddach has a lot to answer to.
