Too hot for comfort!
Hi Shipmates
Can't get the dates correct so will guess.
My first ship was the STS Capulus a Panamanian Flagged liberty ship and what a boat oh dear! the first trip lasted 9 months what a unhappy time it was too, I basically signed off with nothing as I was constantly missing the boat back to the ship when ashore and was logged each time, but the best was losing an alleyway carpet overboard trying to clean it 'long story', this was I think late 1956ish.
My other ships were.
Velutina
Velletia
And the maiden voyage of the then SUPER tanker Zaphon, now I suppose it's rated as a lifeboat as things have gone silly with vessel size.
Gave it up late 1958 ish as it got 'too darned hot' constantly up the Persian Gulf visiting i.e. 'scuse spelling - Banda Mashor, Banda Shapor, Mena Al Ahmadi, Kuwait, Aden etc etc, must have lost 5 stone in 2 years and I was only 7 stone when I started haha.......
Thanks for passing by.
Peter
