Re: akaroa/cymric
gday paul, sorry its taken so long to reply, but if i can work out how to put pictures on this site it really will bring back memories!!I have a picture of myself, barry beer and two others waiting for the Russell Island ferry where we went horse riding. Also there are photos of the crew bar(the pig and whistle)the deck crew sat in one corner and the greasers sat just to the right as you came in.the bar was in the corner and Mceuans on tap.Scots George used to play his guitar and sing on stage.I can remember him going on watch two sheets to the wind, sitting on a ledge out on the wing of the bridge, how he he fall overboard is anybodys guess. Can you remember the horse racing nights. When we were in Opua did you come with a crowd of us to Kawakawa to play the locals ina game of darts?so im going to work out this picture thing, terry

Re: akaroa/cymric
Terry I can see all the photos now and recognise a few more Taffy my cabin mate with the tash and the big guy (A.B) with the gap in his teeth, I cant remember his name ,but when we were in Wellington painting the bow he froze on the stage and we had to rescue him, he just turned to jelly ,as we painted you could see all the stewards creeping ashore one by one ,then when we went to the pub there were stewards all over the place ,I think it was the Waterloo, ok nice to hear from you how's your brother?? .

Re: akaroa/cymric
gday bob, your right it was the Waterloo, and its still there.I lived in Wellington for about ten years overall and painted all the cranes on the waterfront.Good money it was too.The Harbour Board were mainly ex M.N. guys, you rarely heard a kiwi accent.I think the guy with a gap in his teeth was called Dave.My brother Mick is retired also and lives just outside Brisbane in a place called Ipswich. So he left Colchester to travel across the world to live in Ipswich.Would have been cheaper to catch the train.Terry
