Re: vindicatrix-looking for anyone
Hi jim, I hail from the south, Crawley, Sussex. The only memories of the vindi were that it was freezing cold during my stay, food was lousy and was really happy when we became bridge boys, soon to be out of there. Was in hut 2A. Shipped out of the dock St pool London. First ship BP tanker out of Swansea.
Regards, stan

Your son was lucky serving his time with such a good company , probably the best out of Liverpool.
I joined the Booker Viking on the 1st July 1969 straight out of Indie and was as green as grass. Fond memories of the little ship and crew and what a great first voyage at sea for me. Liverpool to Glasgow then Tortola, St kitts, Antigua, Paramaribo and Georgetown followed by Barbados for bunkers on the home run to Liverpool. I stayed until December 69 when I managed to get a deck apprenticeship with Denholms. Still feel privileged to have sailed and gained experience with general cargo on her compared to my future OBOs' and tankers. Boy could she pitch and roll though and I was twice thrown out of my bunk onto the deck with her cork screwing.
I well remember Johnny Best the bosun and a quite a few others too.

Re: vindicatrix-looking for anyone
Yes, the Vindi closed in 1966 /67 and if you recall you joined her in 1995 you may be thinking of when you joined the Association.
