Chris in the 50s . When Britain still had the remnants of a large. Fleet of capital ships. I was in Valletta harbour when Mountbattens Mediterranean fleet was in and the arrival of the US sixth fleet arrived. This was the Occassion of the firing of the big guns salutes to each other. It was an occasion which will never be repeated to my mind. The sheer power is easy to imagine if they were firing live rounds. Those were still the days of ships and men. Cheers JS

Imagine all the smoke in real fight, it would be hard top see what you were firing at.
