ushakov medal
Joe Rawlings 101 years of age, who missed HMS Hood, because his train was late. became an air direction officer on HMS Activity on Arctic convoys,serving for quite sometime on this awful route.after the war, he was a teacher, and headmaster, and last week, a Russian Delegation visited him,to present him with the Russian Medal, and the good wishes of President Putin. two other locals Jack Dix, and James Ewing alsogot the Medal. The photos will be on display in the Moscow War Museum. An interview with him, is on the Newsand Star website from Carlisle.

Hi M, Could not open your link hence adding hopefully to help, another. Been very busy of late, there has been much occurring regionally re: Ushakov and my post re: Scotland last night via the BBC was my latest update, pleased all is now occurring for them, sad that so many have crossed the bar before now.
