Ship Crew for HMLST3011
Hi, I am researching my Grandad and know he was on the ship HMLST3011 in 1944 celebrating his 18th birthday, we have a picture of him on his birthday with shipmates, his name was John Caddick but some differences with his DOB 26th May 1924 or 1926,can anyone assist with any extra details, thanks

If he was Born in Worcester the this must be his Seamans Pouch, which will have basic info, you will also ned his CRS10 for full Service Records , i will look that up a bit later!

Thank you for the reply, we think he was born in Liverpool, he didn't die until 1972, it's all a bit vague other than the picture of him on this ship, his marriage certificate didn't have his father's name on so not 100% sure where he got his name from, hope that helps eliminate

The only other such name that was Born Liverpool but DOB 1946 so thats out as well.
Are you sure he was not perhaps in the Royal Navy??
I cannot see whats on that Document, can you enlighten at all>>

That's the problem we have found nothing adds up with his name and DOB, that's the back of the photo and all that I can read is 1945 HMLST3011, all a mystery

This will be a hard one i feel, but just a quick Search i came across this , which seems to tell me that he was Royal Navy ? But this is just conjecture on my part!
So will keep looking and see if anything mat still come up.

The HMALST 3501 was built in Canada in 1943 for the British Royal Navy and served in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean during World War II. The ship joined the Royal Australian Navy after the war

From Find My Past: There is a John H.Caddick , born in Worcester 2nd quarter of 1926.Mother's maiden name Brookes.
Married 1st quarter of 1946 to Mavis Cockbill in Worcester

HMLST-3011: Tank Landing Ship. Keel Laid 8/44.Launched 2/45.Completed 14/8/45 for Royal Navy. Built as Yard No.1294 by Harland & Wolff,Belfast.
2,256 grt/4,820 dwt. 105.4 x 16.8 metres.Twin screw turbine,11 knots.
1947 Renamed HMS-AVENGER (LST3011 )by Royal Navy.
1949 Sold to Royal Indian Navy,becoming HMIS MAGAR.
Unknown Date-Scrapped in India.

Yes,I saw that Vernon-and thanks to you I was able to look it up on Find my Past- knowing he was from Worcester and his middle initial,I was able to give just a little bit more info !
