Rfa olna
My dad is Alexander Pirie (Sandy) and was in the merchant navy when I was very young possibly 1958/59. We no longer have photos of his ship which I think was a tanker RFA Olna, I also remember seeing another photo of the crew. My father would have been in his early thirties then. Any information would be welcome.

Re: Rfa olna
Hi John
Kiritimati Atoll, coral island in the Northern Line Islands, part of Kiribati, in the west-central Pacific Ocean. It is the largest island of purely coral formation in the world, having a circumference of about 100 miles (160 km). Kiritimati Atoll was sighted on Christmas Eve in 1777 by the English so they called it Christmas Island.
We sailed past it 18 months ago after visiting Fanning Island, its nearest neighbour.,
It was used for the 1957 H Bomb tests.
Cheers
Brian
