Merchant Navy Pension Fund
I worked for Shell UK (Merchant navy) from 1960 -1971.
I have never been contacted by the Merchant Navy Pension Fund (or Shell) re pension, and the MN Fund have no record of me.
I have a British Seamans card which quotes a discharge book no.
Can anyone assist me please

I have lost complete track of everything. Only found out I had worked for 11 years after seeing my CV All I know is that I do not receive any pension

John men were at sea all their lives and never got a MN pension (Union) men did get a pension who were in a company pension scheme.

You did not say what your job was at sea. If you were an officer then you would have been enrolled in the Merchant Navy Officers Pension Fund
(MNOPF). If that's the case then contact them direct. If you were a member of the National Union of Seaman (NUS) which was for ratings, then you can kiss any pension due from them goodbye.

I was at sea for 16yrs. In the MNOPF for 3yrs.been intouch with the pension fund,I can take my pension at 65, Final salary pension.

The MN Ratings Pension Fund didn't start until 1978 John so you won't get anything from them.

#9... Didn't know that Trader. Means there wont be many getting a pension from there then either. If any an Industry suffered such indignities it could only be seafaring, which at one time was the life blood of the nation. JS
