Default A Bit Of A Fraud

Hello everyone. I'm a bit of a fraud I'm afraid never having been to sea other than as a passenger, but came across this site while researching my father and grandfather's Merchant Navy careers. With only a Discharge Book renewed in 1966 for my old man and nothing for my grandad I have had to start at the National Archive where I found their service records from 1940 in the CRS10's, but I think going further back may prove difficult until someone gets their act together and consolidates some files.

Relax Sam, we have many non-seafarers aboard this ship, and look on the brightside, at least you will never be seasick whilst aboard, any questions, ask away we have a willing crew.

    Hi
I know his career from 1940 through to his retirement, and have picked up a few earlier ships from crew lists into the United States, but it would be nice to be able to follow his earlier career from apprentice to his seemingly meteoric rise to Master in 1943. I appreciate that this will probably be impossible because crew lists are spread through so many sources
