Port line
What Captains do you think was the most memorable ?....this is coming from a lowly Ast.Stwd. of course.
For me it has to be Bill Bayley.....his Sunday`s inspections and boat drills were always a dread.
As a first tripper (g/boy) he had the bosun one day strap me into a Patterson stretcher covered my face in (he said) was anti radiation cream and had me hauled up into the air ! very off putting for a 16 year old. As stern as he was several trips later in NZ he got me out of a tight spot with the local constabulary ,but that`s another story ! Brian W.

Re: Port line
Was in Wellington in January 1956 moored near the Port Victor, an old school chum was a cadet on her, that was the last time I physically saw him, but did speak with him last year, 59 years later, I was on 'Salinas' in 1956

Re: Port line
Port Line and City line ships always had a good look about them, they were real looking ships.
