Sauce for the Goose
Sauce for the Goose
There was nothing to read
And the voyage was long
From Avonmouth to Maracaibo
So after the thrash of breakfasts,
Lunches and Dinners
Tea and Tabnabs
The strap-up done
The steward, thirsting beyond bread,
Hungry for words,
Found on the back of a sauce bottle
The following.
H.W.Brand,
Past master in the art of cookery,
Chef to His Majesty
King George the 1Vth,
Was always seeking new recipes
To tickle the royal palate.
Brand, exclaimed his Majesty,
This sauce is AI.
And so it has remained
To the present day.
So the steward spiced the watery world
With his daily office
When all was quiet
In those lulls before the next storm.

Happy daze John in Oz.
