Christmas wishes
CHRISTMAS WISHES
It was Christmas eve of forty four,
We were sailing south of Iceland's shore.
The fog rolled in, the ocean gray,
The watch was set for Santa's sleigh.
For distant Scotland, set our course,
No cheery lights, blackout enforced.
But cookie had his stove alight,
Providing treats to our delight.
Christmas Day broke bright and clear,
An aunt's fruit cake brought Christmas cheer.
A Christmas tree strapped to the mast,
The warmth of Christmas had not past.
Aboard a ship at Christmas time,
A wee bit lonely, feeling fine.
A Merry Christmas comes from me,
To all you hearties out at sea.
