Re: Australia Day January 26th.
Its going to be the same this year as usual , probably the stories are already half written in expectation. How gullible can people get. Australia has nothing to be ashamed of in fact the opposite in most cases. It has advanced and matured by the pioneer spirit that built up a nation in the most civilized way known at the time. Todays morals do not fit in the jigsaw pieces of 200 years ago. JS

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
Just wondered if this stamp is recent or if anyone knows from when?
Keith.

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
This letter caught my eye in The International Express written by someone in Victoria..
Shakespeare hasn"t written much lately, so I thought I"d take a look at Terra Australis through the eyes of The Bard to commemerate Australia Day 2021 . Tis based on something he wrote about England in Richard 111.
Australia ; This bastion of the South, this lonely isle,
This earth of majesty with heart of red,
This land that bears rainforest paradise;
This continent diverse in Natures wealth
Welcomes migration to its sandy shore,
This happy mix of folk, this complete world;
This opaline jewel set apart in the vast sea
Which renders it protection from the world
And keeps unique the flora and the fauna--
Wonders of feather , fur, flower, and leaf,
"Tis a blessed land,
"Tis free, "tis home --Australia!
Then another letter which brings one back to earth and reality, from someone in the UK.
Now that the UK has left the EU can you explain what has happened to all our UK MEPs . Were they pensioned off ? Or just told not to turn up ?

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
After the MEPs have vacated their positions, their seats will be doled out between the remaining 27 countries in the European Union. Now we are out, that is it, end of. We have no more say.
For those MEPs leaving their roles some will seek employment elsewhere.

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
The letter was addressed to the readers of the International Express , so hope the message reaches others who also wonder. I rather think the wondering part is the accompanying amount of remuneration they receive also which will be of interest to the taxpayers who are paying it. Myself their seats will be taken up with other non producing elements of a non producing element in our midst, I would of just thrown the seats on the rubbish tip where they belong pity they werent being used at the same time. Cheers JS

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
Ref. These Australian day honours. The media are still making hay with the group who are going to return theirs because of Margaret Courts award and her against same sex marriage. All I can say those who are making the sacrifice of handing back didn’t deserve in the first place. They should of gone to better people than those chosen. Another near miss for the Australian public. The ones handing back must have a very high opinion of themselves which others may not have of them, personally I would put them in the rat bag of mongrels and feel sorry for the genuine dogs who have to suffer their presence. Cheers JS

Re: Australia Day January 26th.
Apparently: The Australian dollar was introduced on 14 February 1966 to replace the pre-decimal Australian pound.
