The grey wolves of the morn
THE GREY WOLVES OF THE MORN
We've sailed in the north where great icebergs are born.
And hid in the fog so grim and forlorn,
And no one need ask of the terror we've born,
On meeting the deadly grey wolves of the morn.
We've sailed in the south where the water is warm,
And witnessed our shipmates all bloody and torn,
And no one need ask of the terror we've born,
On meeting the deadly grey wolves of the morn.
We've sailed in great convoys in fair and in storm,
And many men wishing they'd never been born,
And no one need ask of the terror we've born,
On meeting the deadly grey wolves of the morn.
Our nerves like our ships were brittle and worn,
From fear of the deadly grey wolves of the morn,
And for all of our dead there were few who would morn,
Who met the deadly grey wolves of the morn.
