Spuds
SPUDS
Spuds Spuds Spuds Spuds
The magnificent spud so underrated so misunderstood
From the table of the gentry , bone china silver spoon
To the simple peasant , flat cap , brown ale , whippet howling at the moon
Spuds Spuds Spuds Spuds
Boiled , roasted , mashed , baked or chips
The humble spud a pleasure for the lips
From the north to the south , the east to the west
We know what we love the best
Spuds Spuds Spuds Spuds
For those who talk but never listen the wise men and the fools
For the lawmakers and those who break the rules
All the little children , the old and unsteady
Waiting to hear the magic words , dinner is ready
Spuds Spuds Spuds Spuds
Recorded by Paul Gascoigne accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Galley Boy Choir

Re: Spuds
My amateur attempt at verse came about from reading a study from Otago NZ. By eating more fibre we can increase our life span , protect the heart , avoid diabetes and many other benefits which I cannot remember now.
Spuds are a great form of fibre but they must be cooked and eaten with the skin left on. Other foods rich in fibre are wholemeal bread , brown rice and pasta , nuts , fruit and veg.

Re: Spuds
It is advisable to always peel bananas , oranges and coconuts before eating them.
Hope you were a better steward than you are a poet Jim.

Re: Spuds
Hi Louis.
My wife and I have a big bowl of wedges up the club once a week, whole spuds with skins on; quartered and deep fried, beside that we have spuds most days, not doing to bad at 82 and 86. As the saying goes, a spud a day keeps the Lord away.
Cheers Des
