Poem 'Heroes'- by David Partridge from WW2's 'People's War'
Greetings,
Found this poem 'Heroes' that acknowledges the role of the Merchant Navy in World War 2.
Credited to David Partridge, Botany Bay, Australia, and published by the BBC 'WW2 People's War An Archive of World War 2 memories , written by the public, gathered by the BBC' :
"Don't speak to me of heroes until you've heard the tale
Of Britain's merchant seamen who sailed through storm and gale
To keep those lifelines open in our hour of need
When a tyrant cast a shadow across our Island breed....."
Poem is under copyright so not reproducing the whole text, but really worth checking out.
