Can anyone help with this one
This week I had the sad occasion to say goodbye to a dear friend, and at the service the priest read out a poem .Which moved me and I cannot get it out of my head ... The fist line went like " I stood on the beach and looked out to sea" and follows something like I saw a big strong ship leaving and watched as it got smaller until it disappeared over the horizon and I knew that someone on the otherside would be watching it getting bigger.
You will understand at this time it would be inapropriate to try and find out from the bereaved. I feel I have heard it before somewhere and any help would be appreciated....Best Regards ,Alan

Hi Wilf--it was in Keith at Tregenna's posting on 18th December
Regards Gulliver
I've copied/pasted it here for you..........
I am standing by the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an
object of beauty and strength and I stand and watch her until, at
length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud, just where the sea and
sky come to meet each other. Then someone at my side says "There!
She's gone!”. Gone? Gone from sight, that is all. She is just as
large in hull and mast and spar as she was when she left my side and
just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of her
destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at
the moment someone at my side says "There! She's gone", there are
others watching her coming and other voices to take up the glad
shout "There! She comes!".
