It was quite entertaining down below as well bit of a pain going back into drydock and still having passengers aboard.

Default all my ships were P&O

    Hi all,
as per title, all the ships i served on were P&O,
    Strathdoon (Deep Sea Cargo Division)
    Strathesk (DSCD)
    Wild Fulmar (DSCD)
    Uganda ( Falklands run )
    Canberra
    Royal Princess

i come from a sea faring family, my father was at sea for 40 yrs, mainly B&I and NZshipping then P&O,
also my older brother is still at sea,
between the 3 of us..... dad, brother & me we have approx 75 yrs of time at sea.

i personally did the maiden voyage on the Roya Princess & i also sailed as a passenger with my wife (whom i,d met onboard the Canberra) on the final cruise of the Canberra.

anyway it would be great to catch up with anyone that knows me.

proud to be in the MN.

    all the best
    andyl

    Default Grand Princess

Might be a bit to recent but I was on the Grand Princess for 6 months from 1999 to 2000.
My first ever Merchant Ship. I was an ETA onboard.

    Maloja P&O
Hi Stuart, I know it has been a long time since you posted this and I have probably read it before but did not connect with the fact that I was on the old girl the same time as you. Although I had been at sea for a few years before I joined her the only thing they would offer me was as a pearl diver. I did almost a complete voyage in the sweat shop and was made up to A/S and then to BCS for the next voyage. I was on her from24/2/53 to19/2/54.which was her final voyage. I am sure that our paths crossed at some time, it was that kind of ship. The only names I can remember are Steve Orchard who was a BCS and his mate Mel Currie who was a PRA in The Lounge.

i wos one of them there pearl divers. a very good job.no uniform or white jackets, just a pair of shorts and flip flops. all the soap you needed for your dhobying and lots of time off in port. any hassle from the 2nd steward, just drop a pile of plates and see him go white at a lost bonus. haha alf
