John, you will be lucky if they leave you enough to live on. They took my dads pension, NCB pension and we still had to top up.

Re: She'll and BP
John OZ, the great British Public as we often hear some gob--ite repeating frequently have been under educated for many a year now. All down to former governments no matter who they are. A classic example was the government of the day removed the UK from the Erasmus scheme after Brixit, why?(The UK turned down an offer to continue participating in Erasmus after Brexit). No doubt the Eton Boys preferred joe public to remain thick.
There is a new scheme called the Turing Scheme, this scheme appears to be having funding difficulties.

Reform seem to be a rapidly rising party, in recent Council elections winning control of several county councils. They will be judged I suspect on how they perform or as I suspect under perform like a lot of Labour councils are doing. Birmingham bankrupt, Wirral my own area Bankrupt.
Got to go as getting the look from my good lady
Shopping
When you see people being interviewed on TV in the street one hopes that the majority of the population are not as thick as these indivuals appear.

Re: She'll and BP
Yep. It,s been 8 yrs now. £80,000 of her savings gone and now paying £188 PW to LA + £178 PW top up to care home. Every party elected have said they will fix the care problem, still waiting. Now Starmer wants to ban visas for “ unskilled workers” ie. care home staff. Putting restrictions on legal immigrants will just open the door for so called illegals. I wonder how long the care industry can last at this rate.

I think the idea behind Starmers annoucement is to get some of the bone idle 1.6 million registered as unemployed to get their lazy backsides back to work instead of living on benefits while also working on the Black.

Re: She'll and BP
Hi John S
Sorry to hear about your predicament, We have the same problems out here, but not to the extent that you seem to have in the UK. I thought when the so called Labour Govt gave 60 million pounds, or was it Billion to the Ukraine for arms they must have been well off financially, at least to look after the elderly, although from all the accounts that I have read there are very few UK owned big businesses left in the UK
to pay for the Health services.

The situation as I see it
If you have never worked, are on State benefits, smoke, drink to excess, and are obese, you will receive the winter fuel allowance plus a myriad of other benefits.
If you have worked all your life, stayed fit so that you are not a burden on the NHS, have your own home, never smoked, drink responsibly, saved for your old age, then get taxed on those savings, you will not get the winter fuel allowance or any other benefit even though you are well into your 80's approaching your 90's
So you have to ask yourself who are the wise ones
