Saw this on the internet, apparently BP's drive to green energy has caused their share prices to plunge leading to American investors to look at shell buying BP.,
Another example of this stupid just stop oil protesters and net zero policy.

BP has been going down the pan since Lord Brown moved on, Tony Hayward ended up carrying the can for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, never mind it was Halliburton, Dick Cheney's former company, had four staff on the rig, and was responsible for "cementing" on the sea bed.
Enter USA CEO demanded by Obama,Bob Dudley. Think one of his first decisions was to sell off the newly built Tanker fleet. He viewed the shipping of oil as an accident waiting to happenm reasoning was BP could not afford more bad press if a ollution incident happened. Not that they stopped shipping oil just let the chartered shipping company carry the can.
Here in the UK, certainly in my area BP & Shell have to most expensive petrol forecourt prices around. and not by a penny a litre more like 5 pence a litre.

Here in Oz BP are going gang busters, always the first to lower pump prices and always well below the price Shell charge.

When I was on the Oil Tankers in BP we used to run into Brisbane and I am sure we did Dampier both discahrge ports. Also we did a load from a SBM in the Timor sea area? What a pain in the ass that was. Nearly wrecked the engine having to godead slow astern a lot of the time. After completing the load think it was 4 days we had to start pulling out the Exhaust valves. Reason we to remove all the build up of thick tar/carbon deposits. Slow speed diesels do not like running on a light load. We discharged in Japan. If memory serves the cargo was classified as thick waxy reside? anyway a heated cargo. We were supposed to be on that run for a while. I was well over due for my relief having done 6 months of which we had no second engineer for 3 months. We were also down a junior engineer whom worked his ticket home!! he pumped the Sludge tank overboard while at anchor in at Singapore. Bloody awful ship British Skill, not the builders fault BP had an engineering super who insisted we alter the Fuel injection timing to reduce fuel consumption. This led to all sorts of engine problems. The Chief engineer told the super he needed to think again as it was destroying the engine, excessive liner wear as the Cylinder lubrication had also been set to minimum. Super said No Chief said he was resetting everything as should be if he did not like that response he would resign here and now. Office silence. New super flew out and had a duck egg when he found out what had gone on by the last eejit.
Anyway on the way to Japan the oldman said the office would not carry out any reliefs due to the costs of flying crew out to and from Japan. Everyone resigned on the spot, Telex from the manning agency , think it was Manx Marine IOM. Those who have 6 months or more will be relieved next call Japan. This was the era when BP had only 2 ships in the fleet, think it was mind 1980's I ended up joining Bibbys for several years before going back to BP as they had started a massive building programme 70 +ships and were looking for gas engineers for the planned LNG Fleet. BP still used a manning agency but were in all but name BP employees, good pay and conditions and also included in the share scheme, not as good as the BP Office staff who had a buy a shre and BP gave you another one free. We could invest upto £250 a month and thankfully got mates rates as BP set the share price for sea staff at 50% of the current market value. You were contracted to keep the shares for a pre agreed period 12months upto a maxium 5 years. Good company then but got fed up with all the HSSE bullshit.

maybe why all bp oil tankers are full Indian crew now.
