#4 Taiwan I wonder how many of the world’s population know the history of Taiwan I don’t , only of what has happened in my lifetime. First of all China was a feudal state for centuries, run mainly by local dictators christened warlords by the West. Taiwan was formally called Formosa in my lifetime , when Msoi Tung was fighting for power under the heading of Communism his biggest adversary was Kiang Kai Shek and old warlord who took the heading of the Nationalist Party for better or worse. He lost power and escaped with his armies to then Formosa. The murky bit is who did Formosa belong to. Who changed its name , and what danger did it still hold for the mainland.? I was in Taiwan when Shek was in power and he took the role of Royality and at cinemas and other events one had to stand while the National Anthem was played and his picture displayed also on a big screen. Whatever communism did for China it at least brought them out of the feudal system and the worker was better off , and over the years they have proceeded to catch up with the rest of the so called civilised world. China over the centuries has had all manner of dynasties, some good some other.

War lords ruled and who knows what happened in many instances.

I too recall the name of Formosa from school days geography lessons.
But if I recall was told that at one time it was Chinese territory but when I do not recall.

Hi, John, agree for sure. About six/seven years ago my son sent me a link to a video. I was amazed. It was a speech by a top ranking Chinese general. He actually said, " It's only a matter of time before we go to war with America, and I suggest we do it on our terms and our guidelines". My old dad used to say we don't need to worry too much about the Russkies, the ones who we should really be concerned about is the Yellow Peril. If we let them they'll take over the globe. I wish I could find the link.

China is only were it is today because the west gave China western technology. They used it looked at it and in many cases they improved it. They then flood the western markets with cheaper made goods and the western society being as it is we buy it.
We have brought it on ourselves.
China may take on Tiawan and we will see if the west is up for a fight!!!
China could well find it has an increasingly belligerent India to deal with along the road.

Gino, between Oct 04 and Feb 06, I was in China 16 times, usually travelling via Hong Kong then high speed ferry to Shenzen then car journey up te coast for about 2 hrs. Every time I went there was a new building, more container terminals etc. The growth rate was phenominal and I forecast back then that they would end up taking over the world.
They dont let any obstacle stand in their way and dont appear to care about their environment for example, the first time I took the journey we were travelling on a motorway when I noticed an unusual sight of a telegraph pole sitting ataop of a column of rock, then another and yet another till finally I saw a small hill with a telegraph pole on the top but this one was being excavated and the rocks were being fed into a portable rock crusher ar the side of the road and then trucks loaded to excess with the crushed rock. The motorway from thereon was strewn with crushed rock about the size of golfballs all spilling off these overloaded trucks trundling along.
According to the Chinese guys I was with they were stealing the rock, its there, so we will have some of that then, is the attitude. Once I had been there a few times I was quite surprised by the amount of crime occurring at all levels.

China is not only doing things in China, it is also very involved in other countries.
We have an area here in Melbourne, close to the old Port Melbourne where a number of high rise apartments have Benn erected.
Almost 40% of them owned by Chinese not living here.
It was discovered they were empty when the water board noticed no water being used.
But as long as they pay the council rates nothing can be done.

China does not have to go to war to conquer the world they are well on the way to doing it economically. They hold nearly 10% of USA the debt
I believe the term is when you hold someones debt it is called Factoring? may have that all wrong.
The control they have of the economies in Africa!!! they build a school then a road which may run from some mine or other sources of minerals they require. That road runs straight to a new port they have built. Basically they are stealing African resources and make a lot of bent African politicians wealty.
Let's face it they learnt from the best we did that for years.

China has a history of never going to war in a foreign country, most of their fighting has been on their soil, like the Boxer rebellion and the Jap invasion. I don't know if Taiwan was ever part of China but I do know that the Formosa was not part of China prior to Mao taking over. Shank Kai Shek as John said, fled to Formosa, he executed thousands of Formosan's to beat them down. Today there are parks where Formosan's have dumped hundreds of statues of him, they hated his guts , the people in the political class there who are calling on the Americans to stop China taking them over are all old Chinese Nationalists, and nearly all descendants of Kai's troops.

Des, the media is very careful on the matters it talks on.
They only mention that which they think will sell copy, it may not be that important but if it sells that is all they care about.
