Re: Death of Innocence.
#308 That’s war take it or leave it, me I would advise to leave it alone. Today such attacks and the expectations and results are put on computers to give an idea of results , and most probably was done by the instigators of the furore and is more than likely all going to plan so are more than likely clapping themselves on the back. Every voice raised against Israel is probably what they expected , apparently death and destruction doesn’t bother them they are a disposable quality, if they were they could have come out of their rat holes and ceded, and saved all the bloodshed.
They had already made the point of whatever it was to draw attention to their self inflicted plight.

Re: Death of Innocence.
I am an ex-pat so did a quick look to see if i should use the Telegraph as a trusted source and this came up !!
It isn't called 'The Torygraph' for nothing. They're a little less likely to tell outright porkies - like the Mail - but they'll always select the worst possible views of Lab/Lib policies & politicians.
"The usual advice - read lots of different sources - doesn't work anymore. Nearly all news media addresses the same news agenda, even if some of them spin them differently.
Owned by the stinking-rich Barclay Bothers who basically use it as a propaganda tool to forward the interests of themselves and their fellow billionaires. A pair of right-royal weirdos if Private Eye is to be believed (and it generally is).
Most often referred to these days as the Daily Borisgraph due to its enthusiastic parroting of every lie the man tells.
"Does a lot of "content for cash" deals with big businesses and governments like the Chinese, to print huge puffs, thinly disguised as news in return for buckets of money."
The only paper I'd exempt from this is the FT - largely unbiased (if a little dry)."
"The Telegraph used to be a heck of a lot better than it is currently."
Anyone with advice on what media to use for reliable information and why it's trusted? Just going to look at the FT as that is suggested in some comments.
We have CBC in Canada which seems reliable but is under pressure from the right to be defunded.
Most outlets are not news but opinions from talking heads especially in the U.S.

Re: Death of Innocence.
Here in Oz the ABC, our local version of a national broadcaster sounds a bit like the UK version with BBC.
The ABC is so far left I doubt it could go any further left if it tried.
The bias towards the current labor gov is palpable, the worst case of brown nose I ever saw.
They are paid 1 billion Aus dollar per year from the tax payer of course, and say they cannot manage!!!!
I do not think I have ever seen such poor quality reporting as seen on there, reporters who waffle for so long on the subject both they and the viewer loose the plot

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Death of Innocence.
#310 All I can say in agreeance Doug that In my lifetime re news reporting and tv coming into the equation , that my personal acknowledement of reporting the news has come down to biased self opiniated and biased gossip put out by same. They are supposed to put out the facts as they come to them with a neutral inflection in their tone. Newspapers and self governing columnists I have no time for , would rather listen to Gypsy Rose Lee at least she was neutral and gave out what she saw in her Chrystal Ball. My first hand knowledge of the media , I would give them a wide berth. They are like the boy who cried out Wolf too many times. Cheers JS

Re: Death of Innocence.
John.
I was a delegate on a building site in Sydney when I was asked to go to a local high school and give an opinion on some safety issues, It was during a State election, When I got there there were cameras everywhere, I did the inspection and said that if this was a building site I would shut it down,, some of the things I remember where ram-set nails sticking out of the stairs, the two floor windows where ready to fall out if anyone leaned to heavily on them, gutters hanging off. Anyway that night on TV the only TV station to report it correctly was the ABC, the Commercial stations scrubbed around the problems, well after ll the kids where not from a wealthy suburb.

Re: Death of Innocence.
No matter how we may view the news item and see it as important, the media may see it in a different light.
When you begin the bulletin with a sport news item that is not so big then one has to wonder where the priorities lie.
On a slow news day, and there are some, they will use any bit of news to go with.
Today the big one here in Victoria is 'Pill testing'.
A 12 month trial that will be a continuous test at a cost of some $6 mil a year.
All to save the little suckers who think it is 'cool' to take them at a gig.

#316, Des that is how a lot of schools are in the UK. Lumps of concrete dropping off.
A lot of buildings in the UK used a form of concrete RAAC ? Made like a Aero chocolate bar pumped full of air bubbles.
That and years of neglect.
