Re: Putin is dead
Such rumors have been around for some time now.
Eventually one will be true.

Re: Putin is dead
Allegedly, Putin was shocked at his troops failure, he regarded them as tigers and wis distraught that they were only paper tigers.

Of course one will be true John , we all die eventually.
My question was how can they get away with publishing this rubbish. Long gone are the days when the press and media did have a responsiblity for printing the truth. Just like that Russian news outlet PRAVDA ( Truth in Russian)

Re: Putin is dead
The internet, while being a very useful tool, can be the biggest source of false news, at least with the newspapers they can be got back at, but the internet, any old rubbish can be put on there, with no responsibility. with this AI now about, standby, fake photos, news etc. The trouble is, where do we go for reliable information ???.

Re: Putin is dead
Keith, have you noticed if you type in a search for say, the meaning of a word,or a historical fact, an app called BING pops up ? certainly does on my pc running windows 11.
Just as an example.
I asked why the Allies won the 2nd world war. Here is the response and that appeared on my screen in less than 5 seconds.
The Allied forces won the Second World War by defeating the Axis forces and securing peace against the Nazi regime. The U.S. dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945, and Japan’s formal surrender on September 2 ended the war.
There were several reasons why the Allied forces won the war. One of the most important reasons was that they had a larger number of troops and resources than the Axis powers. The Allies also had better technology, including radar and code-breaking machines, which helped them to gain an advantage in battles1. Additionally, the Allies had strong leaders who were able to work together effectively, such as Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Joseph Stalin2.
Another factor that contributed to the Allied victory was their ability to mobilize their economies for war production. The United States, for example, was able to ramp up its industrial production to support the war effort, which helped to tip the balance in favor of the Allies3.
Finally, the Allied forces were able to win key battles that turned the tide of the war in their favor. For example, the Battle of Stalingrad was a major turning point in the war that helped to weaken Germany’s military power4.
These are just a few of the many factors that contributed to the Allied victory in World War II.
I then asked if they used AI in the reply
Here is the reply
Yes, my responses are generated by AI technology. I am an AI-powered chat mode of Microsoft Bing that can help you quickly get summarized answers and creative inspiration. I use a combination of natural language processing, machine learning, and other AI techniques to understand your questions and provide you with the best possible answers. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, please let me know!
Best hang on to the old Encyclopedia Britannica
AI may well have it's uses but as sure as eggs are eggs some asshole will write their own version of history and get it into AI.

Re: Putin is dead
Yes Vic, I am aware that BING is a search engine by Microsoft.
As far as I am aware Wikipedia is not AI generated.
