Re: Just stop Oil
Just did the old google search about EV battery disposal.
Recycling electric car batteries using a “crushing and sorting” process. It is the most eco-friendly way to recycle electric car batteries. This process separates usable electric car battery parts from hazardous materials. Another method of recycling is burning the battery. In this method, the battery may release harmful toxins into the air.Ah well that method will certainly help the planet (NOT)

Think I will stick with my current vehicle, a gutless eco boost Kona.
Miss my diesels.

Re: Just stop Oil
Well if I can find any way of souping up my battery gopher , when it comes time to replace the batterys will make enquiries.
every one makes a big issue of electric motivation but it has been around for years . Even the Navy to my recollection were using electric outboards on their fast attack boats and were common in the SBS . You never heard them coming and the first you knew they were there it was too late in any case. This was in 1980 how long before that goodness knows. JS

Re: Just stop Oil
John I am aware that there are charging stations being built or in the process around certains areas to combat that very problem but I didn't pay much attention as I'm not tempted to buy. There is one in my village [population 3,500] beside the play park so at least the children won't be bored whilst it's being utilised.
The Govt. link below is the most up to date I could find...and pretty dire for N.I.

Re: Just stop Oil
[QUOTE=Douglas Bay;416898
, where does lithium come from?[/QUOTE]
Currently the majority comes from Namibia and Angola, with photographic evidence of child miners employed. Large deposits have been discovered in Cornwall and work is currently in progress to open the old tin mines which are in close proximity

Re: Just stop Oil
Just for interest this
As there is question on Lithium, i am an Investor in Lithium Stocks, and have afew different ones. But just to say that Lithium has its best Sources in Nevada thus far, yes there are many other places but the Quantity and Mining is not as great!
So Nevada is the place !!

Re: Just stop Oil
Destruction of batteries, and there will be millions in time, and currently solar Panels for which there is no recycling program will release just as many emission as as current fuels.
Yes oil will eventually run out and there is need for replacement, but it will be there in Hydrogen'

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Just stop Oil
Yep, got my 2nd mates in Newcastle after attending that luxurious establishment in Summerhill Tce, May/June 1959. Was never at sea with Shell, worked in various markets ashore with Shell Mex & BP then She’ll UK. All my seagoing,8 years, was with Common Bros. Various Border tankers, Newbrough, Waziristan, Kazimah, ( Kuwait flag but Commons managed & crewed ) Regreted what I considered “ wasted years “ when trying to get a job ashore, but would not have changed anything in retrospect, happy days.
