There can be no end to such crossings until both UK and France come to a sensible compromise.

The people smugglers are much smarter than the gov of both nations, maybe one should be employed to explain how it can be stopped!!
But if the countries they come from are so bad why do these runners not band together to stop the home problems.

Of course, silly me, it is easier to go to another country with social assistance.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

The British 18th Century coastguard had more success with stopping illegal booze entering the country than today’s civil servants in stopping people . JS

    .
The French have no interest what so ever in stopping those boat people, why would they, another internal problem solved, plus their economy would suffer as the boat builders would go out of business and all the little cottage industries that go along with it, food suppliers, water suppliers, outboard motor suppliers, lifevest makers etc. The French are standing on the beach shouting 'Bon voyage'

John, What social rights do I have as an asylum seeker in France? As an asylum seeker, you are entitled to benefit from social rights all your procedure long. These social rights are : health insurance (allows you to access medical care), accommodation (housing), monthly allowance (financial assistance each month), and bank account (called Livret A).

Now that may be the law but I suspect they may be slow in delivering such assistance.

As Ivan says why should the French be bothered busting their Boules, it is a problem solved for them.
Why are the government giving the French £millions to help fund the problem.
Has the problem has increased since Brexit,

The problem is that legal migration outstrips illegal migration. Overseas students coming to this country to study at our university can apply to have family members to come here legally to support their little darlings and then when they have come they can then get their immediate family to also come here legally.
Those families then get legal status to remain and cause a massive drain on health services and housing whilst contributing little to the country's economy.

That solution lies with the Government , they need to amend the Student visa regs and stop so called family dependents joining them while they are studying here.

The UK does not get as many asylum seekers as other EU nations, no matter what we think.

Three EU countries received more asylum applications than the UK in 2021: Germany (190,500), France (120,700) and Spain (65,300).

Well Merkel can take the blame as she said Germany will open its borders to refugees. She was wearing her practical hat when she came out with that. She pointed out that Germany has a shrinking population so therefore less tax revenue to fund pensions for the aging population. Migrants will get jobs pay taxes and fund the revenues required to keep pensions and other social service requirements going.
Problem was the Germans are not happy with the murders, rapes and increase in crime since a lot of these migrants moved to Germany.

Recent elections in Germany have elevated the far right in that country in a new way. Immigration is at the heart of this political shift. And nowhere is that more apparent than in the eastern state of Brandenburg. Center-left Social Democrats have been the dominant force there for 30 years. That has now changed.

On the news tonight the UK is releasing Albanian criminals from prison and giving them £1500 and a free flight back to Albania.
One was interviewed in Albania after arriving back from the UK. He was asked if he will stay in Albania now!!!! No I will be back again as soon as I can.
Are we really that weak and impotent now we are bribing criminals who have commited crimes here in the UK to go home ffs!!!
No doubt I will hear the it is all labours fault or it is the woke brigades fault.

I'd have thought that Germany would be used to all the murders, rapes and whatever after the Second World War. One doesn't need to live in Europe to se that they are once again moving to Fascism.

We anticipate some 800,000 migrants in the next three years.
Some will be skilled permanents, others students on visa just for study.
    Housing is the biggest problem
