Re: Suggestion for punishment
There’s bullies everywhere Keith , they look for weaknesses they can exploit. Stand up to them and they are cowards without any backing. These ones who hoped to get money by hacking into the Australian Medicare system and trying to blackmail the organisation are the lowest of the low and can only attack innocent people through. Hiding there identity . They are supposed to be working out of Russia but in reality could be anywhere in the world. They are cowards and can’t reveal their true selves and can only work through animonity.. At least your bully the fat lad you knew who he was .JS.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
Aye the Schools in those days were good ones even if we did get a bit of a hard time with some Teachers!
At least we learnt fron our wrong doings!
But yes there were those Teachers that went a mite too far i guess!
One of mine wasa Brother Basil, Marist Brothers Cape Town, if you did any wrong he would call you up in front of class, bend you down with your Head under the Teachers table, grab your Pants and pull then tight up, and the Wack you with his Cane that was like a snake bite~
Ah! the good old days Lads!

Re: Suggestion for punishment
I went to Saint Anselm school Birkenhead RC Grammar school run by a bunch of sadistic Christian Brothers and Nuns. I also was a member of BYC Birkenhead boys club. In the early 60's the club ran boxing classes. I bided my time and left school in 66. Brother Shanks was an evil bastard. Last day of term I decide time to settle the score. He still knocked the shi-te out of me.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
Hi John P.
Don't know why the teachers at that time were so bloody bad, maybe they should have been teaching in Germany. I had a woodwork teacher who had a row of striking knifes in slots behind his desk, if he saw a boy talking one would come whizzing across, he was lucky that not one hit a boy, I later learned he had been put in an asylum.
I saw one teacher get a beating from a parent who was Irish.
The only boy I saw who had has eight lashes of the Birch for break and enter never did it again.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
WE had one in secondary school who was a whiz with the blackboard duster.
The one with the wooden back.
It would fly across the room like a jet and often hit some one even on the head on a few occasions.
But one lad got his revenge.
The teacher had bought a new Triumph convertible and there were no locks on the fuel tank then,
A pound of sugar in the tank did very little good for the engine, but satisfied the students revenge.
It was the last day of school for all of us so we never got to hear how it all worked out.
Just as well, he would have most likely had two dusters after that,

Re: Suggestion for punishment
Saint Anselm school Birkenhead RC Grammar school , yes there were a few whose teaching skills but overall it was a good school.
Anyone ever done any teaching? I can understand why some teachers went rogue. A good teacher never had to lose the rag.
I am sure we have all heard a teacher about to use the cane , this is going to hurt me more than it will hurt you
I could never understand that, why bother then.

Re: Suggestion for punishment
Although most of the Teachers i recall in my Catholic Schools were OK, there were also quite a few especially the Brothers at Marist Brothers, and the Nuns at Nazereth House, that were very fond of using the Cane! Wonder why!?? LOL
Cheers

Re: Suggestion for punishment
My wife had to go to a school run by the Nuns.
There was a bus that picked them all up each morning.
Then one day all hell broke loose, the bus to carry the boys broke down and they had to go in the same bus as the boys.
All day they had to sit there while the local priest told them of the dangers of being in the same bus as the boys.
This was in Ireland at a time when if you saw the priest coming you crossed to the other side of the road.
