Gunshots at Canberra airport.
The report by the media of the title yesterday has been further advanced to 5 shots being fired . That immediately suggests to Me that the firearm used may well have been the likes of an old colt 45
Where it was usual to carry such weapon with only 5 chambers loaded and the sixth left empty to rest the firing pin for obvious safety reasons . If the media hasn’t worked that one out yet maybe they are keeping for a further up date to keep the story going.?
The safety reason for such was obvious , if carrying such in a belt holster you may have shot your big toe off, and if in a shoulder harness maybe something more important half way down. The offender cannot prove insanity if he was wise enough to look after his own personal safety. Hang the basket . JS

Re: Gunshots at Canberra airport.
Hi John.
When I saw that on the TV I thought it may have been a shoot out between Morrison and Albanese aka OK Corral.
How did the gunman get into the airport past the metal detector? Someone's for the high jump.

Let’s hope that high jump is off a scaffold Des, perhaps could tie the two offenders together and save the wear and tear on the rope. JS

Who knows how he got in, but maybe before he got to security.
Airport shut down for hours, poor buggers stuck there with no where to go and that is not a very big airport

Believe Fouro would be the one to have the experience in Airport security at one time . And would be the one who has the most knowledge on the subject. But like most people in specialised jobs is loath to divulge the secrets that may be of use to those who would use them adversely. JS

Re: Gunshots at Canberra airport.
Getting bad here now in Sydney, the Lebanese gangs are shooting each other and don't care about others, 9 dead in a year, but now it has escalated, two Lebanese women shot dead in a car. My view is they should if caught do their time then send them back, see how they get on with the Lebanese Army.

Des, yes good idea but if that happens then down here in Vic half out corner shops would close from lack of owners.
