Re: NZSC Fleet List as at 1st May 1967
Hi Mike,
When I was with NZS they had a company magazine, 'Crossed Flags', at the time of publication they would include all the ship's company on every ship, from deck boy to captain and from all departments. Would those lists you speak of include all that information?
I was on the 'Otaio' in May '67 and remember Captain Angus well, the only cadet I remember is a chap called Yeowell, maybe because of his name. Another deck cadet, Munro, is the secretary of the NZSCo Ass., he ended up as a Captain and lives in NZ.
Cheers, Paul.

Re: NZSC Fleet List as at 1st May 1967
Hi Mike
I sailed in NZSC in the catering dept from 1963 to 1974 One of the best ships i sailed on was the M.V Tekoa , one trip we sailed from Dunkirk to Bonus Azores to discharge a load of potatoes then on to New Zealand light ship to load for the UK
Captain was Fred Angus he navigated the ship through the Magellan Straits, which was fantastic.
I was Captain Angus Tiger, a proper Gentleman to serve .
Cheers

Re: NZSC Fleet List as at 1st May 1967
Did only ne voyage with them on the Paproa with captain North 1964.
Good skipper and a happy ship, went on as assistant steward/Tiger and ended up as assistant cook as the one signed on took off before we sailed.
Odd voyage to Oz but into the Red sea before we got orders for where to go.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Found my cousin's name there, 2nd engineer on the Paparora. He went on to become a Lloyds surveyor then emigrated to Canada working for the salvage association. He died a few years ago with asbestos related lung disease, probably related back to his days at sea.

Wonder when he was on her?
I did just the one in 1964, maybe he was on her then!
